We are so glad we made it to Summer time, the fields around us are flourishing and the colours in the gardens in the village are vibrant. Don’t forget to take advantage of our beautiful, peaceful garden whilst you stay with us. You may well find us sitting out too, enjoying some time out.

So many events are waiting for you, local festivals, food shows and music events, not that these do not go ahead throughout the whole year here in South Shropshire.

We hope you have been keeping well and planning your holidays and breaks away, your down time from the busy lifestyle everyone has these days.

Have a browse through the events happening near us, we are sure you will find something that interests you, we will start with our village and neighbouring Bishop’s Castle, then we will venture out a bit further to Ludlow and the likes.

22nd July 2026  SW Shropshire Gardening Club host a talk by Sam Davies of Shepherd’s Barn Modern Day Self Sufficiency, a ‘Good Life’, beginning as allotmenteers and smallholders, they are now self sufficient in milk and cheese from their goats, eggs, honey, soap and much more, including alcohol! 4th July 2026 Bishop’s Castle Carnival,  this year celebrates the 125th year of this tradition! Tickeets available from Ticket Source.

18th July 2026  ’Party in the Park’, Bishop’s Castle Playing Fields, SY9 5AU                                               Live Bands, Children’s Activities, Stalls, Glow Goodies.                                                                                Food will be available, Indian Snacks, Mexican, Burgers, Pizza, Ice Cream, Soft drinks and a Bar!

5th September 2026    Michaelmas Fair. Traditionally the Michaelmas Fair was at the end of the harvest when farm workers were looking for their next contract and rents had to be paid. Over the years the Michaelmas Fair has grown into one of the biggest in the area but what impresses most visitors is the wide range of entertainment, there really is something for everyone. The event is run by a small volunteer committee who meet throughout the year plus another 60 local people who help on the day.      About – Michaelmas Fair

10th July 2026 Bishop’s Castle Orchestra presents A Midsummer Miscellany, Churchstoke Village Hall, 7.30pm, FREE Entry. (Donation Accepted for the Village Hall). To include music from Handel to the Beatles.

This is a good time to see several of the larger, more spectacular dragonflies commonly found in Shropshire.
